Abstract

The kinetic chain of the human body is driven by biomechanical patterns of the spine, but when traumatic injuries occur, the accompanying symptoms reflect on a functional imbalance in the spine itself, and thus the entire human body. When we talk about the inconsistent operation of the entire kinetic chain, then the disruption of other systems is considered. Therefore, the paper was created by reviewing the literature using databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Hrčak, and the Asian Spine Journal, Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Clinical Medicine, etc. using keywords in English and Croatian. Traumatic spinal injuries represent a functional deprivation of a part of the human body that is often accompanied by post-traumatic cognitive impairment. A quality examination of the damage and the mechanism of injury, as well as an understanding of the biomechanics of the spine and functional anatomy are necessary to make a correct diagnosis for timely intervention. Since these injuries are common and represent a public health problem affecting different age groups and can be extremely risky, this paper will analyse the importance of understanding biomechanics as a kinematic chain and conservative treatment of specific spinal injuries published in these databases in the period from 2017 to 2021.
